Carrie fick - Pilates teacher

Pilates has changed how I move day to day. Sitting with ease without slouching is a simple pleasure. It's also helped me train for a 10k with a PB (when injuries previously hampered me), recover from surgeries, injuries and to continue to pick my kids up (they're 6 and 9 so not light ;)). Pilates is the thin red line that makes my day to day easier and I want you to experience that too.

I've been teaching Pilates for 6 years (practising for 14...!) including post natal clients in Bristol and North Somerset.  Certified through Polestar Pilates, I want to help clients to restore their movement potential and move with greater ease, fluidity and confidence. Change for the short term and long term.

It's a mindful, functional and dynamic movement practise with challenge when appropriate, so you can take the goodness home with you.

Freedom, ease, stability and proprioception is restored through fascial release, props and dynamic imagery. Great tools that can enhance your practise and take your movement to the next level.

We work with the body not against it. Work smarter not harder, practise connection over perfection and practise for progress. And we have fun along the way.

If you'd like to experience improved movement, I'd love to hear from you and support your journey - for the short term and/or long term.

HC 1.jpg

I have been practicing yoga and meditation for 8 years. After experiencing a devastating loss in 2012, I’ve come on the most incredible journey of healing and self-discovery…none of which would have been possible without my yoga and meditation practices. In 2018 I trained through the British School of Meditation to become a qualified meditation teacher and I am now also a qualified yoga teacher. Yoga, meditation and pranayama (breathwork) work so beautifully together and allow us to bring ourselves into balance mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Yoga is a wonderful physical practice which helps build strength, stamina and flexibility in the body, it also massages and detoxes our internal organs, it helps to boost our immune system and even balance our hormones, but I believe the key to getting the most from our yoga journey is to really cultivate a mind-body awareness. When we tune into this connection, that’s when we start to feel the transformation…physically, mentally and emotionally.

Through my yoga and meditation sessions, we will be directing our life force energy (prana or qi) up though the body, and work to balance our energy centres (‘the chakras’) as these are the key to our health and wellbeing. When energy is flowing freely through the body and out into our energy field, we are in alignment with everything and life feels balanced. Please do join me and see what positive changes you can make in your life.

Claire Widdall - Tai Chi Qigong Teacher

I first discovered Tai Chi Qigong out of curiosity, and quickly fell in love with its gentle, meditative movements, breathwork and positive visualisations. Having experienced Qigong’s positive health benefits, I had a strong desire to become a Qigong teacher so that I could share this meaningful experience with others.   I have been practising and studying Qigong since 2014, developing my knowledge and applying its inspirational teachings in my everyday life.

I am a qualified level 1 & 2 Tai Chi Qigong Instructor with the Tai Chi, Qigong & Feng Shui Institute.  I have also trained on other Tai Chi forms under Master Jesse Tsao, the Shiatsu College, UK, and most recently completed a Qigong mentorship with the inspirational Mimi Kuo-Deemer.

I am passionate about supporting people’s mental health and overall wellbeing, and offer friendly, relaxing classes which are accessible to all.

Each session consists of Qigong’s meditative movements, positive intentions and calming breathwork. The class finishes with a guided meditation and provides quality ‘you’ time to further nourish the body, mind and spirit.

Claire Thorne - Acupuncturist

I am a qualified and experienced Acupuncturist.  I work together with my patients to thoughtfully tailor treatment to the individual, enabling them to regain control of their own health.

Using Traditional Chinese Medicine theory in a contemporary way, I treat everyone uniquely and holistically.  Often working alongside conventional western medicine.   I have many years experience working across a number of settings from retreats to rehab centres to multi-bed clinics as well as advocating acupuncture to the wider community with Explore Acupuncture workshops.

I have had success with a wide range of conditions including chronic pain, digestive difficulties, anxiety and depression, headaches, weakened immune systems and sleep problems.   Though I have a special interest in helping women wanting to find a more natural resolution to conditions such as menstrual irregularities, fertility issues, IVF support and menopausal symptoms.

Acupuncture involves the gentle insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific points of the body.  This stimulates the nervous system, activating the body’s innate healing system.

To heal and thrive, we need to address your well-being physically, emotionally and spiritually.  Acupuncture is both gentle and natural

jacqueline abbott-slade - holistic relexology and massage

Having spent many years trying complementary health to help my lifelong issues with allergies, eczema and asthma, I discovered Holistic reflexology, which has transformed my life. Only a holistic approach could give me the understanding about the complexity of my condition and was able to stabilise my wellbeing for the first time in years. I subsequently trained as a holistic health therapist in Manchester in 2003 working with reflexology and Touch of Light Massage.

I work holistically i.e. with all aspects of my clients: spiritual, mental, emotional and physical, through an understanding of both the physical body and the chakra system. Clients may come for purely physical relief from recurring headaches, menstrual pain, circulation problems, hormone imbalances or digestive issues etc. or they may wish to explore deeper work on the issues which are affecting them on some level. Releasing stress and de-toxing the body is an important step towards emotional and mental wellbeing, especially for issues such as insomnia, anxiety, depression and grief.

Over the years, I have worked as a therapist in Yorkshire and Hertfordshire and, most recently, 5 years in a retreat centre in Mallorca.

I am also trained in bereavement support by CRUSE and am currently a Macmillan Cancer Buddy.

The sessions always start with a 15 minute chat so that I can adapt the session accordingly. I offer a free initial consultation by phone or in person.

Martin Abbott-Slade - Personal Trainer, Yoga teacher

We spend more time than ever before just sitting down.

Studies show that our increasingly sedentary lifestyles are linked to decreasing IQ and an increase in mental illness across all age groups.

I spent 26 years in a deskbound career, interspersed with intense exercising in spare moments aimed at relieving stress. This wasn’t enough, I realised my health and wellbeing was suffering.

In 2013 I opted for radical change, left my job and trained as a Personal Trainer. To deepen my understanding as a movement practitioner I then became a Yoga Teacher and moved to Spain for 5 years to develop my work at a retreat centre. Here my work evolved. I encouraged clients to think about physical activity in a different way and take a fresh look at different activities and movement. This helped change my clients’ mindsets from considering exercise as a “must do” to one where it became integral to their lifestyle and as part of their core values.

Now I am back in the UK and would like to continue inspiring people to move!

My aim is to listen to what my clients needs are and provide support and guidance for those seeking to become more active.

Over the years I have drawn on my many influences as a teacher and practitioner of a variety of movement modalities and now work in a multi-faceted way. I focus on developing strength and mobility to build a physical foundation which will facilitate quality of life irrespective of age.

Working initially on a one to one basis, I tailor individual sessions that are sustainable, functional and most importantly, enjoyable!
